Hi all!
I'm in Al's and Rose's Discord channels, and people talk ofter about the Globex chart.
A couple of weeks ago, I didn't know the existence of Globex.
Although I found that it is "an electronic trading platform", I don't understand it's role in your trading.
For instance, why not just look at the ETH E-mini chart?
I'm really interested to make all that clear in my mind.
Thank you!
P.S. Where can I see that Globex chart? I can't find it on TradingView.
Hi Denis,
The Globex is actually the electronic trading system you refer to which covers many instruments, so can certainly cause confusion. You can equate it to Extended Trading Hours (ETH) being the full near 24 hour market operation.
For the ES Emini, most traders refer to the Globex when they mean the overnight US session, which is not really accurate but it works Ok. The day session for Regular Trading Hours (RTH) is when the NYSE is open, from 09:30am ET to 4pm ET.
So yes, just use the ETH chart to see the whole picture.
Hi Richard!
OK, I see, so it's kind of a habit to use Globex when talking about overnight session?
So saying Globex or EHT is the same thing, right?
This must be related to people trading the E-Mini S&P 500 because I had never heard of it before.
Thank you!

Yes, Globex and ETH (not EHT) is pretty much the same thing. Using "overnight session" only applies for US based traders as me (in Hong Kong) and Europe see the "Globex" during our mornings and afternoon. So better to use the Globex term. 🙂
One expert says:
"Yes, the globex session H and L are important because 90% of the days the MKT touches one of them."
I don't know where the info is from.
Its interesting- I was wondering about this term in the BTC study group on facebook.
I am fairly new but I mark 4 lines on my chart. Pre market/ after market high(green) and low (red) and yesterday's regular trading hours high and low. I do see how the market is reacting at these levels and It helps with me with my trading decisions. I change these lines manually on few charts with different time frames every day, so its a few minutes of work before the market opens.

Good work. I do exactly the same every day. Works very well. I also run the full Globex ETH chart for trading as many trades can setup before the US day session open. Also, good looking but actually weak setups in the early part of day session can be avoided when looking at overall context including the later part of overnight action, from about 7am ET onwards. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks a lot Richard!

Hi Richard,
In order to avoid weak setups during Globex session, we should focus on setups that form from 7am ET onwards?
Would be nice if you could share your chart on your blog how you would enter using the 4 best trades. Just a suggestion to guide beginners.
