When looking at the right edge of the chart to determine what the next move is, Al says look to the left and
that will give you an indication of the move. Is he referring to the immediate candle on the left or the trend on the
left? I get confused with this and would like some clarification. Thank you.

You need to look far enough to the left to see the trends/patterns/market cycle in effect. This might be several days even (looking at daily chart) or just all the bars for the current session. I trade the Globex 24-hr chart so will look at what has happened overnight, for example. The overnight highs and lows are often strong support and resistance.
Study Al's daily reports on site and you will see how he will refer to previous sessions action when suggesting what might be possible going forward.
