Does anyone here like to trade corn or soybean futures ?
What's the good/bad/ugly ?
Do they trade better at certain times of the day ?
Is 75,000 Volume good liquidity or is that low ? (75,000 contracts per day?)
thanks!
Hi W,
ZC/ZS are only active during regular trading hours (9:30 am - 2:20 pm ET) and if you stick to this window liquidity is not a problem. During the overnight session (8:00 pm - 8:45 am ET) volume is too low to trade small time frames.
If you day trade one advantage is that the session is only 4h 50min while still having good setups on most days.
Watch for high volatility during the crop production releases (once a month at 12 pm ET – check CME calendar for the dates).
thank you
that's excellent
I have a really stupid question, because I've never traded anything other than index futures.
When I look at the CME ZS quote page, I see price quoted in '2, '4, '6 etc. What is that sign and what does it mean?

When I read the contract spec, it says minimum fluctuation is 0.25 cent. So why don't they quote the price in 0.25, 0.50 etc, as opposed to those '2, '6 etc?
