Hi All,
Al's setup I think is excellent, and very clear in his videos. I really appreciate he's put the code on his website to use in EasyLanguage.
However, when I add into Tradestation the code isn't accepted / not verified with the following error messages below. I'm hoping someone can help show how the resolved this.
Here are the error messages on 15 minute EMA on 5 min chart:
And error message for 60 minute on 5 minute chart:
Thank you so much for your help!
Hi TP,
Did you copy and paste code from site? Sometimes you can get hidden characters messing up the TS side.
Whatever, can you try copying code from site into Notepad and then copy it from there, or just type each character in.
Also, I see the webpage display is not showing the original vertical quotes in code. I have fixed this so make sure to use vertical quotes in your TS code too. Maybe this is your problem?
Good evening - i've been trying to get the "60 min 20EMA on the 5-min Chart" to work in Tradestation and have yet to succeed. I am using TS 10.0 and I have input the language thru the TS Easylanguage editor, however, I do not get an EMA that plots over the Price Action. I get an indicator at the bottom of the chart, separate from price action.
Ive used the above language. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
Ive been using the 200EMA, however, I would very much like to have the actual 60 min 20EMA. Using the 240 period EMA does not accurately approximate the correct EMA.
Thank you in advance!
Martin
Hi Martin,
I do not use TradeStation but looking at your code I would suggest the "curly quote" characters might be the problem. Try using straight quote characters with a text editor rather than using MS Word or similar. eg "15 min 20EMA"
PS. Just reread your message and placement of indicator is your problem. Sorry, cannot help there but likely just by editing the instrument properties or whatever.
I just wanted to update anyone who might be having issues with Tradestation. I found the solution for the problem I was having.
When I posted above, the 60min-20EMA would not plot on the same price axis as the underlining chart. This made the EMA useless. I tinkered a bit, and found as Richard suggested, a setting in the EMA window. Under Scaling, the first drop-down, "Scale-on", choose "same axis as underlying" and then choose sub-graph "1" in the next drop down.
Also, it is important, as others have noted, to not copy & paste the language. There are no special characters or macro characters. Just copy the language exactly as it is noted.
The attachment looks small. Hopefully it can be enlarged when you view it. Its all there.
