I second this.
I'll add that to institute wholesale change to an important tool (the EOD summary) with no consultation with its actual users is a mistake.
Enough pushback from the community has emerged that IMHO this should be rethought.
Particularly, replacing the EOD summary with a video just makes no sense.
Prioritizing the value of the video format on a public marketing channel like YouTube over something the community doesn't want to go away is difficult to understand.
The difference in format is a key issue that I can only assume has not been fully considered.
The videos are great; Brad's bar x bar analysis is helpful, but it is not a replacement for the EOD summary in slide format.
With the latter, we can go back at any time, and on our time, and make comparisons to our own charts. This is entirely different that sitting through a 15-20 minute long, bar x bar analysis. Furthermore, the video format provides very different information than the slide, and the two used in very different ways.
I strongly suggest that how this change has been implemented be examined. At the very least, you need to view the video as an adjunct to the EOD summary, not as a replacement.
>>One key confusion is that the Encyclopedia itself has not changed at all.<<
Well, I do keep saying no change on Encyclopedia month end updates. But keeping the "Latest Slides" file as well as the daily slides, as now, is certainly overkill for most. I did intend to keep "Latest Slides" for the foreseeable future, despite the added workload. 🙁
With dropping detailed Daily Setups chart, Al thought traders would like to see new E slides each day. But again, even more work, so happy to drop them if not useful.
I agree including the blog chart with current Daily Slides does not help much, given the duplication.
Do you think a short survey would help? So many comments scattered here and difficult to keep track as this Q&A format is not really suitable. Yet another thing I wanted to follow up and change to standard forum style! 🙁
Well, as said on another comment here a recent survey (to all mailing list members) BEFORE any change made told us 80% in favor of video over chart.
Videos are planned to be 5-6 minutes but needs practice. Perhaps using the blog chart with its markup for video would be better than talking through bar-by-bar?
Yes, agree the original Daily Setups are a great resource, but with near 4 years of such charts in the archive I am sure 90% of days going forward are well covered already as far as setups to expect, right? So why keep repeating the same every day? Today is already a small pullback bull trend day so far, now transitioning to possible minor or major reversal, or trading range. Unique? Not at all. 🙂

Hi Richard,
If possible, please post the survey on this site because I don't follow anything else anywhere else.
I don't know about the workload and it is unreasonable for me to expect Al to push his limits as he has already done more than enough for us to be successful traders.
That being said, I think both Encyclopedia and Daily setups are invaluable resources and they made me the trader that I am today. Albeit, the encyclopedia is huge and the daily setups are much easier to go through and provide a lot of information at once place.
However, I don't think the EOD video review adds much value to me, no disrespect meant to Brad. At the EOD, I can pretty much see what Brad is describing on the chart. However, Al's markups in any form as they come - be it daily setups or E slides somehow end up adding tremendous value.
We keep asking you and Al for things. If you're looking for volunteers, I can help you out with some stuff if you want. I have been around for some time and I think you will find some others too who would be glad to help.
Here are my thoughts consolidated in one post, after having used the new way encyclopedia updates have been done, i.e. posting them daily grouped date wise, as opposed to posting them at the end of the month grouped together as per chart patterns they would fall into:
1. With regards to Daily setups being stopped after creating a 4 year database
I agree with you Richard here, that the 4 years database that we have is more than enough to have covered all permutations and combinations of price action that can occur on a given day.
So by stopping the daily setups we don't really lose much and it frees up time for Al (& others in the team) to focus on other additions to the site/course
Also, the slide that appears as the EOD review on blog posts still carries quite a bit of day's analysis along with blue box setups, that is quite enough (in addition to the 4 year data bank) for me to see how the particular day has been analyzed by Al.
2. With regards to end of the day video review
I found it quite helpful and would love to see if it becomes a daily feature.
3. With regards to encyclopedia
Here I differ with how things have gone.
I suspect that since Daily Setups were stopped the team might have decided to post daily updates to the encyclopedia so that lack of daily setup updates can be replaced by something.
But I found it much much easier to absorb the encyclopedia updates when they were grouped as per the chart patterns and were updated altogether at the end of the month.
So if I had my way, I would keep the encyclopedia as it was earlier, that would also further reduce the workload as the encyclopedia would only be updated at the end of the month, and no further work would be required when the slides are added to encyclopedia.
Currently apart from the daily updates, you would still need to group the slides as per chart patterns for them to be included in the complete encyclopedia.
Agreed with Stephen I sometimes have to paste the same search in all 16 encyclopedia sets.
I didn't even realize this discussion was going on. Last week I first noticed the Daily setups change, and loved it.
I personally have found the daily setups to be too cluttered for me to be able to use comfortably. So I have generally been working my way through the encyclopedia, bouncing around from topic to topic and taking notes.
But some (most?) people seem to use the encyclopedia like Al (and Rose ) do, saying "let's see what will likely happen next (or during the rest of the day)."
I use it as a study tool.
My preference is:
1) Continue the new format of daily setups. And keep the last month up for at least a couple weeks after the month ends.
2a) Continue to provide the "New Slides for [month]" file (in encyclopedia order) at the end of the Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns page.
2b)But if that is a hassle, then don't do it, because it can EASILY be recreated by pasting the search in each of the 16 FILES i.e. "23/2/"
Hi @BTC will it be possible to add a global "search by date" feature to the encyclopedia. So if we need to find Al's slide for a specific date we would be able to find it among all the parts ?

I answered this by email but found this message here so quick answer for others' benefit.
I have followed up "Global search" with software developers but needs time to see if anything comes of it. Also looking into moving Encyclopedia to a fully database-driven application for easier use. The latter was reviewed when Encyclopedia was first released but technology was not satisfactory at that time.
Hi Richard, is there a way to look for a specific date of a Daily setups chart in the new Encyclopedia version? For instance, March 23rd graph?
Thank you very much
Kind regards

Sadly no practical way. You would need to go through all 16 parts searching for 23/3/23. You could assume there will be at least one slide in the Gap Up or Gap Down parts (P5-P8). In this case a search for 23/3/23 finds a slide in Part 8 Slide 232.
The software developers confirmed no global searching across multiple PowerPoint presentations is possible.
I think it's possible to use AI to recognize and match current day's pattern to the closest in the encyclopedia library. Unfortunately, I don't have the skill to do that. I believe it would be there in the not too far future.
Hi,
As far as I know about these subjects, I think that if the date of the current chart is included as text on the slide (example in attached screenshot), it could be indexed and searched, as the rest of the themes and abbreviations.
Maybe.
Thank you
Regards

The dates are already on all slides, just hidden and in reverse (23/7/14 for today) as noted on Encyc page. Reversed makes for easy searching when sorting specific month slides.
A future replacement database driven system could then easily find any day's slides, but some way off yet.
